European / Swedish Massage
Manipulation of the soft tissues of the body by a combination
of various movements such as stroking, kneading, and friction.
The use of oils, creams, lotions, and hot or cold therapy may
be used as well as passive and active joint movement.
Reflexology
A form of compression massage based on the idea that stimulation
of specific pressure points on the feet and hands affects other
areas and organs of the body.
Medical Massage
Therapy for specific physical problems. The areas affected are
focused on by using many different types of techniques and modalities,
all of which help release the chronic as well as the acute areas
of tension and pain.
Positional Release Therapy
Therapy based upon the osteopathic techniques of Strain/Counterstrain
(SCS) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET). The theory behind this
therapy is that in order to relieve the presenting condition it
is vital that the body is brought in to balance first by aligning
the structure. SCS is applied to tight, constricted muscles. The
affected area is passively shortened and held for 90 seconds thereby
allowing the muscle fibers to effectively reset and return to
neutral. The results are often dramatic and long lasting. MET
is a form of assisted stretching using isometric contractions
to quickly and easily lengthen tight muscles and restore range
of motion.
Facial Massage
Therapy that uses Swedish techniques focusing on face, neck, and
decolette to improve circulation. This can be used in conjunction
with mesotherapy and medical facials to enhance overall appearance.
